Sunalei Preserve Home

Sunalei Preserve is located in the heart of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains twelve miles west of the town of Boone in the northwestern corner of North Carolina.  The area with its high peaks and fertile valleys is known collectively as the "High Country."  The High Country is made up of the towns of Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, Valle Crucis, and other small communities throughout the North Carolina counties of Watauga, Avery and Ashe and Johnson County in eastern Tennessee. Each community is unique unto itself offering its own history, personality and flare.

The town of Boone offers restaurants, shopping, churches, medical facilities, and Appalachian State University. Appalachian State, a university of over 16,000 undergraduate students, is a three-time NCAA Division AA football champion.  Last year's victory over University of Michigan brought national recognition to the university as well as the cover of Sports Illustrated Magazine.  The local public school system is highly regarded statewide. National parks, ski resorts, golf courses, Grandfather Mountain, Tweetsie Railroad, and other area attractions are within a short drive.

The quaint mountain village of Blowing Rock sits astride the Eastern Continental Divide at a cool 4,000 foot elevation in the heart of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Known as the "Crown of the Blue Ridge," Blowing Rock is a very special place to live, work, and play. The year-round population of Blowing Rock is approximately 1425, but in the summer months visitors flocked to this marvelous mecca to enjoy the comfortable cool summers.
